The Power of a Clearly Defined Goal
The beginning of any coaching session should help you clearly define your goal. There are many explanations out there on how this works. Some say it's a magnetic force in the universe that brings us spiritual beings the things that we ask for. Which is a beautiful way to look at it. A more concrete way to say this is that once we clearly and specifically define what we are looking for, it's way easier to find it. Imagine you were brought out to a parking lot packed with cars and given the task to find a stranger's car....and given no other direction. How are you going to know which car to find?

Each question you ask will get you closer to finding the specific car. What model of car? What color car? Are there any specific bumper stickers? How will I know if I found the right car? Each small question will narrow the choices down until you're able to find the right car. And the quicker you figure out the specifics of what you’re looking for, the quicker it can be found. Now apply this to your goal. Looking for a new career in a sea of job boards is overwhelming! Start to define for yourself what that career looks like. Not just the field you’re looking for, but the type of company you want to work for. Do they provide the best environment for you to do your best work? Not just the salary, but are the benefits allowing you to balance your work life and your daily life? Do they have a lot of passion for what they do? What are their management styles? Will you enjoy the pacing of the workflow for this specific position? Knowing what you’re looking for specifically will help you find it faster. Just remember, if you can think of a realistic goal, there is a realistic path to it!
